The Ohio State Frank Stanton Veterinary Spectrum of Care Clinic

This month we’re celebrating the grand opening of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine’s new Frank Stanton Veterinary Spectrum of Care Clinic.

The Frank Stanton Veterinary Spectrum of Care Clinic is a unique primary care clinic that will serve as a real-world, hands-on experience for OSU’s veterinary students and as a valuable resource to the community. The clinic is dedicated to training students to manage patients across the entire spectrum of care, and to train them for operating their own veterinary hospital in the future while providing the surrounding community with affordable veterinary care.

Working with Davis Wince, Ltd, BDA acted as the small animal design consultant for this project, designing the veterinary spaces within the facility. The intent of the design was to provide a hospital that operated as both a working veterinary clinic and a teaching & learning facility.

To that end, some of the unique amenities include:

  • 9 exam rooms – Designed just like those in a neighborhood veterinary clinic, these exam rooms are roomie and functional. Included are a dedicated feline exam room, an infectious exam room, a comfort exam room, and a behavior exam room.

  • Observation rooms – Connected to each exam room is an observation room for coaches to discreetly observe students in action and provide them with guidance and feedback.

  • Dental Suite – Four tables in a large suite allow students to gain valuable experience in one of veterinary medicine's most popular routine services.

  • Student workstations/conference room off of treatment – This area gives students a space to work while allowing them close access to hospital areas and the ability to observe the treatment room.

  • Double surgery and single surgery rooms – These two large rooms are equipped for procedures and designed to allow space for operating and observation during surgical procedures.

  • The facility also comes equipped with a second floor which consists of learning classrooms, conference rooms, break room and offices.

At 34,000 SF, this facility offers plenty of services for the community, and provides OSU’s veterinary students with valuable experience for their future.
